In which vascular appearances can it be considered?
- Superficial telangiectasias
- Diffuse erythema on the face and neck
- Vascular appearance associated with rosacea
- Vascular component within Poikiloderma of Civatte
Is IPL suitable for every vessel?
No. Deeper or thicker vessels, venous malformations, or prominent leg veins may require different vascular lasers, sclerotherapy, or vascular evaluation.
Scientific data
In systematic reviews on IPL, a high level of clinical data has been reported for telangiectasia. Clinical series evaluating facial and neck vascular lesions have also shown positive responses, particularly in rosacea and poikiloderma components.
Safety
Since epidermal melanin can also absorb light while targeting vessels, the risk of burns and pigmentary changes may increase in dark or tanned skin. Proper cooling and parameter selection are important.
Our approach at our Bodrum clinic
We differentiate whether the vessel is superficial or deep, part of diffuse erythema, or an isolated vascular structure. If IPL/BBL is not appropriate, we consider vascular laser or other options.
