Why doesn’t the jawline look the same on everyone?
The prominence of the jawline is shaped by the mandibular bone structure, chin tip projection, masseter muscle, jowl fat pads, skin elasticity, and age-related volume changes. Therefore, merely “reducing fat” is not the right goal for every patient.
In which cases might Endolifting be more meaningful?
- Mild to moderate lower face laxity
- Limited fullness in the jowl area
- Bluring of the jawline due to soft tissue
- The goal of improving contour while preserving facial volume as much as possible
In cases of advanced sagging, pronounced mandibular retrusion, or significant volume loss, fillers, surgery, thread lifts, or different energy-based methods may be more appropriate.
The difference between jawline filler and Endolifting
Filler provides structural support and volume; Endolifting focuses on tissue tightening and limited contour refinement. They are not direct alternatives to each other. Unnecessary fat reduction should be avoided, especially in thin faces that have lost volume.
What do the studies show?
In a small human study in the jowl area, positive changes in skin elasticity, density, and thickness were reported after 1470 nm Endolift. While a 2024 systematic review supports positive clinical signals in jawline and face-neck applications, a 2025 scoping review showed that most of the studies are small case series. Therefore, outcome expectations should be interpreted alongside the strength of the study design.
Procedure and recovery
The thin fiber is advanced parallel to the anatomy of the jawline margin in the targeted subdermal plane. Mild edema, bruising, tightness, or tenderness may be seen in the first few days. Early changes in contour may be noticed shortly; the collagen remodeling process takes longer.
Safety
The correct plane is critically important due to the nerve and vascular anatomy around the mandibular line. Previously performed filler, thread lift, liposuction, or surgical procedures must be included in the planning. Adverse effects such as burns, contour irregularities, temporary numbness, or asymmetry are possible.
Frequently asked questions
Can it be performed while there are fillers present?
The type, location, and date of the fillers must be known. Previous applications may alter the planning; suitability is not determined by photograph alone.
Does facial expression change?
The primary goal is to preserve natural facial proportions. Avoiding unnecessary fat loss is therefore important.
Is a single session sufficient?
It varies according to tissue structure and the goal. A single session may be sufficient for some individuals; the same result or duration is not guaranteed for everyone.
Our approach at our Bodrum clinic
In jawline evaluation, we address chin tip projection, the mandibular line, jowl tissue, and the submental area together. The goal is not only to create a sharper line, but to achieve a natural lower face contour that is compatible with the individual’s facial proportions.
