What is minor ozone?
Minor autohemotherapy is one of the ozone applications that uses a person’s own blood. The term “minor” describes the scale and route of administration; it does not mean that it is weaker or stronger than the major method.
How is it administered?
The physician reviews the health history and medications. A small amount of blood is drawn using sterile, single-use supplies, processed outside the body with an oxygen-ozone mixture, and administered into a muscle. Technical details and the administration plan should be left to an individual medical evaluation.
Which health conditions has it been studied for?
A placebo-controlled human study in fibromyalgia that used major and minor autohemotherapy together reported positive signals in some submeasures, such as sleep, fatigue, and well-being; the difference in the total FIQ score remained more limited. Because major and minor autohemotherapy were used together in the study, it is not possible to distinguish which component accounted for the observed contribution and to what extent; nevertheless, the positive signals in the sleep, fatigue, and well-being submeasures are worth investigating from a clinical perspective.
How it differs from major ozone
In the major application, the processed blood is returned intravenously. In the minor application, a smaller amount of processed blood is administered into a muscle. Minor autohemotherapy is not the same procedure as administering ozone gas alone into a muscle.
Safety
G6PD deficiency, bleeding/platelet problems, serious coexisting illnesses, and especially blood thinners should be evaluated. Sterile technique is essential. Tenderness, bruising, or infection may develop at the injection site.
