Why is ApoB important?
ApoB more directly represents the total particle burden of LDL and other atherogenic lipoproteins. It can provide additional information, especially in the presence of elevated triglycerides, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, or discordance between LDL-C and clinical risk.
What does Lp(a) tell us?
The Lp(a) level is genetically influenced and relatively stable throughout life. The 2025 ESC/EAS update considers elevated Lp(a) as a cardiovascular risk-enhancing factor. The result alone does not dictate a treatment decision; it is evaluated together with total risk, LDL-C, blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, and family history.
Our approach at our Bodrum clinic
In longevity evaluation, the goal is not solely the question, “Is cholesterol normal?” When necessary, we evaluate ApoB, Lp(a), triglyceride/HDL ratio, and other cardiometabolic markers together; we interpret the results within the individual’s absolute risk.
