Aesthetic laxity around the knee and joint disease are not the same thing. Skin folds above the knee, localized fat accumulation, and natural lines that form with movement should be distinguished from signs of effusion, bursitis, or osteoarthritis.
Who may be considered for Endolifting around the knee?
It may be considered in selected individuals with limited skin laxity or a localized contour problem that is also noticeable when standing. Natural skin folds that form only when the knee bends do not indicate a need for the procedure.
How is an aesthetic concern distinguished from a joint problem?
If pain, increased warmth, pronounced swelling, restricted movement, or a one-sided increase in volume is present, a joint or soft tissue cause is investigated first. Endolifting is not cartilage regeneration or a treatment for osteoarthritis; the target is the contour of superficial tissue.
What does the research show?
Although the Endolift/endolaser literature includes positive studies targeting skin tightening and localized fat in body regions, strong comparative human data specific to the area around the knee are limited. While the 2024 systematic review reported generally positive results, the 2025 scoping review emphasized protocol heterogeneity and the lack of controlled studies.
Procedure and recovery
After the target area and anatomical plane are identified, controlled laser energy is delivered through a thin fiber. Bruising, edema, or tenderness may occur in the first few days. A return to walking and exercise is planned according to the extent of the procedure and any accompanying joint condition.
Safety
The procedure is postponed if there is an active infection, unexplained knee swelling, acute joint inflammation, or a significant bleeding risk. Contour irregularity, thermal injury, infection, and nerve irritation are possible, although rare.
Our approach at our Bodrum clinic
We first distinguish whether the appearance around the knee stems from superficial skin/fat tissue or from a joint or soft tissue problem. Endolifting may be considered in suitable aesthetic cases; if pain or effusion is present, the relevant clinical evaluation is performed first.
Frequently asked questions
Does it reduce knee pain?
The purpose of the procedure described on this page is aesthetic contouring. The cause of knee pain should be evaluated separately.
Does it completely eliminate wrinkles?
Natural folds that form with movement are expected to persist. The goal is a modest improvement in suitable areas of laxity.
Is a single session enough?
There is no single standard; follow-up is based on tissue response.
